False Path vs True Path

I’m reading the book Mastery by Robert Greene these days, and came across this passage… I think this is essential reading for everyone.
In the chapter about picking a career, he talks about the reasons why we are attracted to a false path in life.
For the wrong reasons - Money, Fame, Attention etc.

The best HR advice comes from those in the trenches. That’s what this is: real-world HR insights delivered in a newsletter from Hebba Youssef, a Chief People Officer who’s been there. Practical, real strategies with a dash of humor. Because HR shouldn’t be thankless—and you shouldn’t be alone in it.
If you chose a career for any of these extrinsic reasons, there’s bound to be a sense of emptiness inside you.
A sense of discomfort and hatred.
A sense of angst towards the world.
You may never be able to put your finger to it.. but it exists.. and it festers.. and it eats you up from inside.. Until you can’t take it anymore and you give in..
You either see it for what it is and start changing your life.
Or you look further away from it and become a sorry, sad, bitter person spewing hate on to the world.
Do yourself (and the world) a favour pick the first option.
As Greene says - actively rebel against the forces that have you pushed you away from your true path.
Scoff at the need for attention and approval - you’re better than that.
I run a free community of people exploring alternate careers and unique paths to self employment, if you’re somewhere along that journey, join us here -
That’s it for today
See you next week
